Mindfulness & Movement to Ground You

Mindfulness & Movement to Ground You

The Festive Season can be a lot of fun but it can also be pretty hectic. Social events, less sleep, different food and drink to our usual choices and we can feel a little off balance physically and mentally. Spending time with our loved ones can be a gift but can come with its own stresses too.

Movement and mindfulness are beautiful practices that can help you to clear your head and come back to yourself when everything starts to feel a bit too busy and chaotic. Its available to us at any time – day or night and often has instantaneous soothing effects.

Mindfulness – We love apps like Smiling Mind, Insight Timer or HeadSpace as they offer the beginner simple, accessible and quick mindfulness practices. Mindfulness relaxes our nervous system which gives us the time and space to view problems differently, become less reactive and gain some perspective. We recommend 10 minutes once or twice a day to feel grounded, calm and able to connect to your sense of gratitude.

Movement – Including non negotiable “movement time” into the day is one of the keys to not starting the year feeling bloated, lethargic and tired.
Endeavouring to have a heavy exercise sesh every day won’t necessarily be nurturing for your mind and body. Try and listen to your body and go with what it needs. Maybe that’s some yoga in the studio or a walk along the beach or maybe a good hard run is what its calling for. Be flexible with the type of movement you choose, but make it non-negotiable daily is the key to boosting your mood, reducing constipation, feeling energised, sleeping well and making healthier food choices.

We guarantee making time for both mindfulness and movement this Festive Season will make it calmer and more enjoyable not just for you but for those around you too.

With gratitude,
